Classification By Pipe Diameter
- Tee with the same diameter: the tee with the same diameter of the main pipe and the branch pipe
- Tee with different diameter: the tee with a smaller diameter of the branch pipe than the main pipe
Classification By Docking Form
- Butt-welded tee: a tee pipe fitting that is welded after docking with the connecting pipe fitting.
- Socket tee: a tee pipe fitting that is welded or fused after the connecting pipe fitting is inserted into each end of the tee.
- Compression fitting tee: a tee fitting with compression fittings at each end, which is tightened after the pipe fitting is inserted.

Production Process

Hydraulic Bulging
Hydraulic bulging of tees represents an advanced forming process that ingeniously expands the branch pipe through the axial compensation of metal materials.
This transformative method utilizes a specially designed hydraulic press to inject liquid into a tube with the same diameter as the tee, exerting immense pressure to shape the metal intricately. This innovative process ensures precise and reliable results, making it a highly efficient solution for expanding the tee branch.
The hydraulic bulging process for tees offers a one-step forming solution with exceptional production efficiency. It effectively increases the wall thickness of the main pipe and tee shoulder.
This method is widely used in China to manufacture standard wall thickness tees of up to DN400. It is suitable for a variety of materials, including low-carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and stainless steel, with a low cold hardening tendency. Additionally, it can be utilized for non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminum, and titanium.
Hot Pressing Forming
The hot pressing forming process for tees involves flattening a tube billet larger than the tee’s diameter to match the tee’s diameter while creating a hole at the location of the stretched branch pipe.
The tube billet is then heated and placed in the forming die, with the punch die for stretching the branch pipe loaded into position.
The tube billet is radially compressed under pressure, allowing the metal to flow in the direction of the branch pipe and form the branch pipe during the radial compression process.
The process involves radially compressing the tube billet and stretching the branch pipe. In contrast to the hydraulic bulging tee, the hot pressing tee’s branch pipe metal is compensated for by the radial movement of the tube billet, making it the radial compensation process.
Implementing heating and pressing techniques can significantly reduce the equipment tonnage required for material forming.
Hot-pressing pipe tee fittings are highly adaptable to materials and suitable for low-carbon, alloy, and stainless steel; this forming process is usually used for tees with large diameters and thick tube walls.
