Purpose Of Reducing Flange

Reducing flange are widely used in water conservancy, electricity, power stations, pipeline accessories, industry, pressure vessels, etc.

Reducing weld neck flanges are also called large and small flanges. Except for the pipe diameter, the flange size is the standard flat welding flange size of the larger diameter of the two diameters, but the pipe diameter is smaller than the normal diameter of the flange.

This type of flange is generally not recommended for use. It is only used when the diameter of the equipment, pump nozzle is larger than the pipe to be connected, and the installation size does not allow the installation of a reducer or it is unreasonable to install several reducers. At present, reducing flanges are limited to PN ≤ 2.5MPa and only the former Ministry of Petroleum has this standard.

Usually, the reducing flange is divided into several arc segments for processing. First, the blank is forged into a square billet and then cold-formed into an arc. After annealing and stress-relieving heat treatment, it is assembled into a complete circle and processed on a vertical lathe to the designed shape and size. Finally, it is transported to the construction site, combining several arcs. Welded into a completely reduced flange, it is assembled with the pressure vessel.
